This week’s featured neighborhood is the residential subdivision of townhomes called Laurel Creek at Larchmont. Located at Union Mill Road in Mount Laurel, this neighborhood was developed by well-known New Jersey builders A.P. Orleans, Inc. in 1989. The theme of this development was to create “luxury, garden-style condominiums surrounded by a recreational paradise”. This included a “glistening 50 meter pool” with a diving area, sun terrace and private Clubhouse, all surrounded by beautifully landscaped grounds for biking, sports, picnics and family fun.
Among their design plans for Laurel Creek at Larchmont, they developed 5 signature models that home buyers could choose from: The Carlton, The Dumont, The Ashley, The Regal and The Devon. Each model was compromised of three bedrooms and two and a half baths and could be upgraded to include a loft and sunroom. They ranged in size from 1,000-2,300 square feet and most models also featured a basement and one to two car garages. Prices for these homes in 1989 started at $79,000 and reached as high as $99,000 for the most luxury and expansive models. Association dues cost a mere $67 per month.
In today’s market, these in-demand condos and townhomes are sold anywhere from $200,000 and up with association dues of $220+ per month. Aside from the lovely community and traditional design, what makes this Mount Laurel neighborhood so desirable is the low taxes, convenience to shopping, restaurants, churches and great school system available to families with school-aged children.
